Since 1993, the Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) has been transforming health care in underserved communities in New York and beyond through high-impact financing, innovative services, and policy leadership that helps providers expand access to quality, patient-centered primary care.

The first and largest primary care financing institution in the nation, PCDC has provided or leveraged over $240 million to finance 77 community health center projects statewide.  This investment has generated more than 2,200 permanent jobs; built or renovated 630,000 square feet of space; and created the capacity to serve approximately 550,000 New Yorkers and provide 1.7 million medical visits annually. We have also helped more than 250 primary care teams at more than 100 health centers create same day access; cut no-shows; reduce wait times; provide patient-focused care; and increase productivity, revenue, and patient and staff satisfaction. PCDC has also helped more than 70 health care centers nearly double their emergency readiness levels.

PCDC's programs and expertise include:

Capital Access offers favorable financing and strategic advice to help providers build and renovate facilities, purchase essential equipment, and install or upgrade information technology systems.

Patient-Centered Performance transforms the way providers deliver care and conduct business with intense coaching, diagnostic, and consulting techniques to reduce wait times and no-shows, and increase provider productivity.

Health Information Technology (HIT)  helps providers select, prepare for, implement, and use Electronic Health Records and practice management systems to maximize the benefit to their practices.

Emergency Preparedness  prepares providers to build capacity and serve communities in the event of emergencies, ranging from blackouts to pandemic flu.

Policy Leadership   Informed by a wealth of on-the-ground experience, PCDC leads state-wide policy initiatives that help providers operate successful practices and strengthen primary care in underserved communities.  A founding member of the New York State Primary Care Coalition, PCDC conducts expert research and works with leaders in government, foundations, and the private sector to promote Patient-Centered Medical Home, reimbursement reform, infrastructure and workforce development, HIT adoption, and strong primary care standards.
