PCDC Study Identifies Keys to the Sustainability and Spread of Improvements Attained through Learning Collaboratives. Read the full study here.
Many healthcare organizations have invested in improvement efforts using the Learning Collaborative model with the goal of achieving better operational or clinical outcomes. Though previous studies have evaluated successful results achieved using the Learning Collaborative model, none has systematically studied what contributes to sustainability and spread. To that end, PCDC conducted a qualitative research study, with funding by the Commonwealth Fund, to identify what contributes to the sustainability and spread of improvements following a Learning Collaborative. PCDC used the findings to develop a set of core principles to better facilitate the sustainability and spread of improvements.
"PCDC will continue to imbed these principles in all of our improvement work so that we can ensure that improvements are sustained and spread throughout an organization and that time and resources are well spent,” said Ronda Kotelchuck, Executive Director of the Primary Care Development Corporation.
